On Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the delegation of BNP Paribas Group headed by Jean Lemierre, Senior Advisor to the Chairman, BNP Paribas Group, member of the Supervisory Board of UkrSibBank Joint-Stock Commercial Innovation Bank. 

The parties discussed a number of financial and economic issues that arose in Ukraine due to the global financial crisis.  

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that "controversies concerning the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine" had been conducted at the level of authorities. V.Lytvyn did not object to the discussions concerning the said subject; however he stated that the authorities should work out a coordinated position. "All institutes of authorities should demonstrate trust to and confidence in the banking system", - he stated.  

V.Lytvyn also deems necessary to adhere to "the clear-cut currency policy in order to adopt the budget for the next year". 

The participants of the meeting also discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund.   

For reference: BNP Paribas is a French bank, one of the largest banks in Europe and in the world, occupies the first place in France and the fifth in the world due to the scope of assets (1,23 trillion USD as of beginning of 2006).
